This is a report on a three day educational course to Jerez, Spain for the purposes of education and gaining an Official Sherry Educator certificate.

Abstract

Sherry is a unique wine with a global reach but with a very specific local image. Its place of origin is the far southern corner of Spain's Andalucia province. For a wine to be be called a Sherry it must be produced within the 'Sherry Triangle' of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar de Barrameda, three towns that make up the region. The wines must be fortified. Many are aged in solera systems for fractional blending and consistency. Their unique taste profile make them excellent for pairing with many traditional and contemporary global cuisines. The Official Sherry Educators Course supposes to further enhance the knowledge of educators and thus spreading the culture associated with Sherry wines.
