Abstract

Natural wines have been growing in popularity for the last decade. They are made in a pared-back manner with minimal intervention, indigenous yeasts or without the use of chemicals in the vineyard.

They taste, smell and look different from conventional wines and the movement that has sprung up around them has a rebellious nature yet sits alongside other trends like craft beer and single origin chocolate and coffee.

This piece discusses what they are about and whether they are a passing trend.
