Abstract

This a conceptual paper that uses a literature-based approach to extend strategic management concepts usually applied in a commercial context to the area of humanitarian supply chain management (SCM). The concepts of the resource based view (RBV), dynamic capabilities, intellectual capital and knowledge management are analysed from the perspective of the unique non-profit environment and a framework for supply chain management in NGOs is developed, that can help them to compete under the increasing pressure from the external environment, donors and stakeholders.
