Abstract

While we have been shaped by the many people who have travelled to Ireland over the centuries, we have also managed to influence development in countries around the world. This pair of reels opens with the sounds of a creaking ship laden down with expectant travellers. As the track progresses we hear the natural joyfulness that Irish people have taken with them around the world. Not least among the travellers and countless musicians who left the island in search of careers-many of them finding and continuing to find a place on the world stage.

The Irish Traditional Music Ensemble is directed by Odhrán Ó Casaide, Tom Doorley and Kieran Hanrahan and this piece has been arranged by Tom Doorley and Odhrán Ó Casaide.
