Aniar is located at 53, Lower Dominick Street, Galway, Co. Galway. The proprietors are Drigin Gaffey and Jp McMahon. This is the only one Michelin star restaurant in the West of Ireland. Enda McEvoy's cooking is innovative while it is traditional concentrating on wild and foraged ingredients as well as cultivated food
"At this year's recent Good Food Ireland Award ceremony in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin (Nov, 2012), Aniar was award the Supreme Award for "the business that most strongly reflects the Good Food Ireland experience". Aniar was also awarded Best Regional Newcomer and Overall Newcomer of the Year for their commitment in showcasing Irish produce and in upholding the philosophy of Good Food Ireland. The chef's philosophy is simple "The food is based on our terroir, the ensemble of natural influences that give a food a sense of place. Here in the west we are surrounded by lush ancient woodland, bountiful shorelines, thriving farmlands all heaving with some of the best ingredients in Europe but unique to us. We hope to reveal and utilise our terroir. We will quite simply obey the seasons and let nature decide our menu”.
