Aoife Lawton has been the systems librarian in the Regional Library at Dr. Steevens’ Hospital Dublin for the past 7 years. The hospital operates as the administrative & corporate centre of the Health Service Executive. Previously she worked for a library systems supplier (EliAS supplier of Dobis/Libis, AMICUS and LibriVision) as a technical librarian and for IBM as a technical support specialist. As systems librarian she administers the library management system and all electronic resources for the three counties Dublin, Wicklow & Kildare incorporating several libraries (3 acute hospital libraries, 1 health promotion library, 1 corporate library, 1 psychiatric library and 1 nursing library) and over 200 HSE locations. Her professional interests include repositories, open access, management & selection of electronic resources, library systems, e-learning, digitisation & preservation of materials and continuing professional development. She is a working group member of the Health Science Libraries Group a division of the Library Association of Ireland and organise CPD training & events for Health Science Library & Information professionals in Ireland.
